Control Panel -> Programs and features -> features -> Check Internet Information Services and OK.

Note : If you are using ESET antivirus , disable the real time protection before you install this.

Otherwise the computer will hang.

Here is a little ‘hack’ I found.

Firstly create a remote desktop session and save it to somewhere it’s easily accessible. (eg Desktop).

Now  Window+R  -> notepad -> enter

Drag and drop the saved session into notepad.

You will see a bunch of settings.

Click on the first line and press Control + F (find) and type in bpp.

If you click somewhere past the line where ‘bpp’ is then it will not find it.

Now if you are using windows 7, you are forced to use 32 bit, and it will have 32 next to bpp.

Change it to 16 if you want something that’s viewable.

You have not recompiled your project or solution.

I Personally think this should not be happening, because Visual Studio should handle this when you add the custom validator. When you actually add the custom validator, assign the value of  OnServerValidate-which is the name of the method-and double click on it, Visual Studio will actually add the method signature and it works fine.

But, to save the time and confusion, just recompile, or rebuild.

Hopefully this will be one less time wasting point.

if you have dealt with more than 2 oracle servers,

you might have come across some issues with incompatible oracle client issue.

And because of this, you might have tried to install a different version of oracle client but you could not.

Because of this awesome architecture of Oracle client.

To install new client you have to uninstall the current version. But there will be one file that will remain even though you try to delete.

It’s called oci.dll

It is bound with explorer.exe file and even though you kill the process and try to delete it using taskmgr command it still wouldn’t work.

To resolve this:

uninstall with universal installer (optional since it does not delete all the files)

and restart, after bios menu screen hit F8 many times till the computer beeps (just in case)

Now if want our lovely safemode with command prompted.

Once windows is booted with cmd, we can start deleting files.

Default folder for version 11 seems to be c:\app and for 10 and 9 is c:\oracle

Just type

cd\

to be on c:\ root

and type

rmdir app/s

And do the same thing for all the folders that you know that is related with oracle.

Might have to delete

c:\program files\oracle

As well.

Now you can install a different version of oracle client.

If you wish to reboot on the cmd, type:

shutdown -r -t 00

Last words to Oracle:

Can you guys really spend a bit more money on the installer/uninstaller or/and the client architecture?

This software is compatible with windows 7 ( I have tried and it works ) and claims that it works on XP and Vista.

So it should be fine to run on any Windows.

Once you launch the program it will come up with an window that looks like this.

The two items you see on the list are the key mappings I have applied.

I have Lenovo x200 and around the arrow keys there is one ‘back’ key and one ‘forward’ key.

Since I don’t really use these keys and I mainly use page up and page down keys a lot I wanted to map them.

Here are the steps.

1. Press ‘Add’.

2. Now you see something like this.

You can manually select the key from the list but the best way is to press ‘Type Key’ on the left side.

And then type the key that you want to map from. ( eg. the ‘backward key’)

3. Now click on ‘Type Key’ on the right side.

You should be able to see something like this.

Choose the key that you want to map to. (eg. page up key)

4. If done correctly you should be able to see the item that you have selected on both columns.

Click on OK.

5. Now you are back to the first screen with an item added.

Click on write to registry. Once it’s saved, then you have finished all the steps.

No more tedious print screen ->  paint ->  select area ->cut -> new file -> paste.

All you need to do this run this tool.

Select the area of the current screen that you want and just save it!

Not sure whether this was on Vista.

Anyways, this will save a lot of time overall.

It’s called Google Bookmark.

If you want to install and try this you need :

1. Google Account

2. Chrome

Steps.

1. Open up chrome and click on the spanner icon on the right top corner.

2. Click on extensions.

3. If you don’t have any extensions installed you will be able to see a search box.

If you do have some, just click on more extensions at the bottom of the extensions list.

4.  Choose this one.

5. And then click on ‘Install’.

6. Login to your google account.

7. Go to different sites. eg) go to twitter.com

8. Click on this Yellow icon next to the address bar. ( This bit of step was not so obvious to me )

9. Click on Add. The URL should be set, so you just have to set the name and label.

% Note that setting the label thoughtfully will allow you to do efficient navigation when you have lots of bookmarks.

10. Once the bookmark is added, it will reload and you should be able to see the newly added bookmark on the ‘bookmarks’ tab.

Now you don’t have to worry about losing all the bookmarks even if your computer gets stuffed up.
